Directors
The Founders
Dr. and Mrs. Ebangit are the original founders whose passion for education laid the foundation for what is today The Zeb Lavone School of Excellence. Dr. Ebangit earned a PhD in Economics, while Mrs. Ebangit earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition. Both served as educators at the University of Nairobi, bringing their academic expertise and deep belief in the power of education into the lives of their students. Their passion for developing future generations later inspired them to establish the Light Primary School, beginning a family legacy of service through education. Today, that legacy continues through their daughters, who have revived and reimagined their parents’ vision as The Zeb Lavone School of Excellence building upon the foundation they established and their lifelong commitment to helping others learn, grow, and excel.
Dr. Ruth Ebangit McDowell
As a Family Medicine Physician and Director of the Zeb Lavone School of Excellence, she brings a unique perspective in health, child development, and the overall well-being of children and families. Her medical background, Christian faith, and commitment to service complement the school’s mission of educating the whole child academically, socially, physically, and spiritually. She is passionate about creating a nurturing environment where every learner is valued, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive.
Rebekah-Ebangit Kabuye
With a professional background in finance, internal audit, risk management, and corporate governance, she brings strong leadership, accountability, and a commitment to excellence to the Zeb Lavone School of Excellence. Her passion for education and her Christian faith inspire her to help create an environment where children receive a strong academic foundation while being nurtured as individuals. Her vision is to raise confident, capable, and principled learners who are equipped to excel.
